At a young age, I began a creative path, crafting and sewing soon developed into drawing and painting which lead me to Utah State University. Beginning in illustration & finishing in Graphic Design.
After college I lived in the Teton National Park and Lake Powell where I started incorporating wood, leaves and stone which eventually brought me to gourds. Gourds allow me to merge my previous drawing and painting skills with my love of nature's beauty.
Incorporating natural elements such as wood, glass, stones & leaves I mainly work with gourds. I grow my own gourds; where I clean, carve, burn, paint, dye, cut and sculpt the gourds into one of a kind pieces that last a lifetime. I use an air powered drill, hand & power saws, acrylic, oil paint & leather dye
Living the majority of my life in Utah, I became a nature lover early on spending my childhood camping, fishing, swimming, biking, skiing and exploring. I fell in love with nature and the beauty it has to offer.
We own a 1000 SF greenhouse where, when not working in my studio or doing an art show, I focus on selling Heirloom tomato and other garden vegetable plants locally to the public. The greenhouse gives relief when desired from the artwork, still allowing my love of nature to be a part of my daily life. When viewing my work I hope to remind you of your last solemn moment outdoors enjoying a bit of nature ~
